What?
Founded in July 2013, Eleven-ThirtyEight was an ongoing journal of news and opinion dedicated to chronicling the state of the Star Wars franchise in a way that eschews reactionary news posting in favor of longer, more considered pieces with a proactive mindset. It officially ceased publication in July 2023 after a ten-year run.
Who?
The site’s name is intended both as a nice and generic Star Wars reference and as a play on FiveThirtyEight, one of the early inspirations for the site. For info about us personally, check out the Staff Bios page.
When?
Eleven-ThirtyEight published new content on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—not all of them, but as often as possible.
Why?
The goal of this site was to present the “big picture” of Star Wars and fandom, and to help ease the transition into the sequel trilogy era with a bare minimum of doomsaying. In doing so, we aimed to set a tone for Disney-era fandom that was conversant in the Legends Expanded Universe without being unnecessarily mired in it.
